Sandy is a practicing New Genres artist who builds sculptural installations and public interventions. Her work serves as a conduit for introspection on the transformation that is achieved through an endurance process.
She began her professional life as a fashion designer for:
- Barbie clothing with Mattel Toys
- Calvin Klein
- JC Penney
- Ocean Pacific
- Rocky Mountain Clothing and Roper western wear
In the 1980’s her entrepreneurial spirit led her to other ventures:
- product design for Gerry and Snugli baby
- greeting cards for Kogel Cards
- illustrations for children’s books, and cartoon syndication with Singles Magazine
Before returning to RMCAD as a member of the faculty and Interim Chair of Art Education, Sandy taught at:
- the San Francisco Art Institute
- Metropolitan State College
- the Art Institute of Portland
- the Art Institute of Colorado
- and also developed curriculum for licensing credentials
Throughout her life as an artist, designer and educator, she has become known for creativity with results, leadership, and a vision for transformation and change.
