Spring 2009 Orientation
Friday, January 2nd 2009
Students starting class in the Spring should attend Spring orientation. Information regarding Spring Orientation will be mailed to all incoming students in early November.
In addition to meeting your fellow students and learning more about the resources at RMCAD, you will receive your schedule of classes and information about academic policies.
Information about orientation is mailed approximately two months prior to the start of the term. Please contact our Director of Student Activities, David Bourassa, at dbourassa@rmcad.edu, or call him at 303.753.6046 if you have any questions about orientation or require more information.
Orientation FAQ:
Q: What if I can’t come to any or all of Orientation?
A: Please make all efforts to attend all of Orientation. Contact David Bourassa, Director of Student Activities at dbourassa@rmcad.edu or 303.225.8540 to arrange make-up sessions if you need to miss all or part of Orientation. Make up sessions/information will not be available prior to Orientation.
Q: I already have a degree or am a transfer student, I don’t really need to come to Orientation, do I?
A: Even if you have been through this several times before, RMCAD is unique and will differ from your other collegiate experiences. Much of what is covered will be vital to your success as a student here, even if you have experience taking classes at another college or university.
Q: Do I have to bring my parents?
A: You are not required to bring any parents/guardians, but if they play a supporting role in your life both of you may benefit from them attending part of the program. More details will be provided as orientation approaches.
Q: Can I bring guests with me?
A: The sessions are designed for you and your parents or guardians. We have found that the sessions planned are of interest to those people who play this supporting role in your life and are not generally of interest to friends, siblings, and extended family.
Q: Do I stay in my room at The Regency during Orientation?
A: Yes. Students who will be living in The Regency Student housing during the academic year are encouraged to move in to their rooms the day prior to the start of orientation.
Q: What do I need to bring to Orientation?
A: Yourself, your questions, your parents/guardians if they are interested in attending, and lots of excitement and creative energy about starting college at RMCAD! Dress comfortably.
Q: Will I be fed at Orientation?
A: Yes! There is no charge for Orientation meals. Vegetarian options will be available. If you have other dietary restrictions please contact David Bourassa to arrange appropriate meals for your needs.
Q: When do I get my student ID, email account, schedule, books, etc.?
A: At Orientation of course! There will be time for you to shop at the RMCAD book/supply store and sessions to give you all of the information (plus some) about making your transition to life at RMCAD.
