Our resources extend far beyond the classrooms to include tutoring, a well-appointed library, and other forms of student outreach—all to ensure the success and prosperity of our students.
Tutoring + Academic Support
Tutoring + Academic Support
We provide a variety of academic support programs to help you succeed.
Our Student Ambassadors operate a tutoring center called the "MAX Center." They offer free tutoring, organized study groups and regular workshops addressing traditional curricular hurdles.
Trained tutors are available on a walk-in basis or by appointment. In addition to planned study sessions they can assist with writing, math, software, note-taking strategies, time management or any other academic issues.
Student Ambassadors
Each year, the Office of Student Activities hires 10 Student Ambassadors. These students serve as leaders during orientation and plan community-building activities throughout the year. In addition to these duties and staffing the MAX Center, they conduct campus tours for prospective students and their families.

Support for Students with Disabilities
Support for Students with Disabilities
We comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other applicable disability non-discrimination laws, and are committed to helping students with physical and learning disabilities get the most out of their time at RMCAD. If you have a disability and require additional support or accommodations, please notify Braelin Pantel, the Dean of Students, in writing along with documentation of your condition. Specific documentation will be required before accommodations will be set up for you. You'll need to do this prior to the beginning of each semester so we can make appropriate arrangements. Talk to your admissions counselor if you have any questions.
All students, even those with documented psychiatric or psychological conditions, are held to the code of conduct outlined in our student handbook.
Student Services Staff
Student Services Staff
With our small size and intimate campus, you'll have the advantage of knowing the faculty and staff you interact with very well. Here are a few people who are fantastic resources:
Braelin Pantel, Dean of Students
As the Dean of Students, Braelin is who to see if you need help finding off-campus housing, have health or safety questions, or need assistance with anything not academic in nature. Basically, she works to ensure that students have a safe, comfortable, and overall positive experience at RMCAD, and that the campus environment is completely conducive to their success.
David Bourassa, Director of Student Activities
David's the one who approves new clubs, oversees Student Government and the Student Ambassadors, and organizes on-campus events. You'll get to know him well at Orientation since he runs that too. If you're looking for something fun or interesting to do between classes, David's the guy to see.
VA Hayman, Director of Career + Alumni Services/Visiting Artist Program Coordinator
Mackenzie Burford, Associate Director of Career + Alumni Services
VA and Mackenzie are the ones to see if you need some guidance on finding part time jobs, freelance work or if you want to talk about your resume, cover letter or ideas you have about your career. Helping students find not just jobs, but a career path is what the Office of Career + Alumni Services is all about! VA and Mackenzie can help you find internships, develop your networking and interview skills, and also offer programs like the annual internship fair and the Passport to Success Career Development Program. The Career + Alumni Services office also does a lot of community outreach fostering new job and internship opportunities, attending national art and design career conferences and staying current on trends in careers.
The services offered are free and students are encouraged to take advantage of the great resources starting the minute they walk on campus. Career + Alumni Services also offers free life-long career counseling after graduation and a number of full-time job resources.
