Admissions Policies

Applications are evaluated on a continuous basis until just before the start of each term. We'll mail you a letter when all of your application materials have been received. From this point it can take up to two weeks to review your application and make a decision.

All admission decisions are final. An appeal will be heard only if you are able to introduce new information or material that has not already been reviewed in making the original decision.

If you have transfer credits from another accredited college, we will provide a credit evaluation before you need to schedule classes.

You may cancel your enrollment in person, by telephone, or in writing prior to the start of classes. If you do not cancel after receiving your letter of acceptance, we assume that you plan to attend. RMCAD will refund your tuition and fees within 30 days of the beginning date of the term or from the date of receipt of written notice that you do not plan to attend, whichever is earlier.

You must begin classes at the beginning of the term indicated on your application. If you are admitted to RMCAD but decide to start classes during a later term, you will need to cancel your enrollment and reapply for the correct term. You will need to pay all fees and a re-evaluation of your transcripts may change the transfer credits we will accept.

You must reapply as a transfer student if you miss three or more consecutive terms and want to return. You will be responsible for all application fees and deposits and must meet all admissions requirements at the time of your reapplication. We will also evaluate transcripts from any colleges attended during your absence from RMCAD.

Also be aware that your graduation requirements will be defined by the catalog in place during your first term back. We will honor all credits earned prior to your absence, but they may not all apply to your new degree requirements.

If you plan on taking fewer than 12 credits in a term, you'll be considered a part-time student. You will still need to meet the same admission requirements as our other students.

If you wish to audit classes or take courses for credit, but not necessarily for a degree, you may enroll as a non-degree-seeking student.

Non-degree-seeking students are expected to have enough experience to meet course demands and requirements. Instructor approval is required if you wish to attend a class without first completing the prerequisites listed in our course catalog.

As a non-degree-seeking student you will not qualify for financial aid. If you later decide to apply earned credits toward a degree, you will need to reapply and be accepted as a degree-seeking student.

If you're a high school senior who exhibits a high level of artistic skill and talent, you may qualify for our Honors Program. Honors students may apply to take courses for college credit while still enrolled in high school. Please speak with an Admissions Counselor for more information.

Some high schools offer Advanced Placement classes, which give their students a chance to complete college level work during high school. Students who earn a minimum qualifying grade of 4 on certain AP exams are granted credit for select RMCAD courses.

If you completed AP classes, we'll require a copy of your AP Grade Report at least 30 days before the start of your first term at RMCAD. Contact The College Board or visit their web site at http://www.collegeboard.com to learn how to request your AP Grade Reports.

The College-Level Examination Program^® or CLEP provides students of any age with the opportunity to demonstrate college-level achievement. Students take a series of exams that allow them to "test out" of certain undergraduate college courses.

We grant class credit for CLEP exams that meet a minimum qualifying score of 50 and are comparable to RMCAD course requirements. Please submit a copy of your CLEP transcript with your application materials so we can evaluate and award credit.

The International Baccalaureate is a comprehensive course of study for academically talented high school students in select schools throughout the world.

If you were an IB scholar you may receive RMCAD class credit based on select exams that are comparable to our course and degree requirements. Please ensure that we receive a copy of your IB transcript along with your other application materials.
