RMCAD Scholarships

We sponsor a number of scholarhsips for both new and returning students.

RMCAD Talent Scholarships for New Students

RMCAD awards artistic merit-based scholarships three times a year to a select number of applicants. Award amounts range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars, depending on the number of applicants and the range of talented presented. You must be an applicant in order to be considered for a talent scholarship.

The deadlines to apply are as follows:

  • March 1 for students planning to start in the fall
  • November 1 for students planning to start in the spring
  • February 1 for students planning to start in the summer

Send the following in a single package:

  • A portfolio containing 15 to 20 pieces. You may use the same portfolio submitted with your application, or you may submit a second portfolio if you have since created newer/better work. See our Portfolio Page for additional tips and instructions.
  • A letter of recommendation from an art instructor, professional artist or someone else who can speak to your artistic talents and potential.
  • A personal statement outlining art activities (clubs, exhibits, awards, etc.) you participated in within the past three years. The statement must also include answers to one of these two questions:
    • What special qualities of character, scholarship and talent do you bring to RMCAD?
    • How do you see art and design making a difference in the ideas and activities of society?

Note that this statement should be different than the one you sent with your application for admission. Please include your full name and the title "Scholarship Essay" at the top of the document.

Your submission must be received (not just postmarked) by the deadlines shown above. Please submit all items listed above as one complete package, either in person or via mail, to the following address:

RMCAD Merit Scholarships for New Students

RMCAD’s Admissions Office awards merit-based scholarships to prospective students and applicants who have a strong record of academic and artistic achievement. Please complete this survey to help us determine if you are eligible to receive a Merit Scholarship.

RMCAD Scholarships for Currently Enrolled Students

Currently enrolled students will be notified of scholarhsip application deadlines and procedures via their RMCAD email account.

  • Several memorial and merit scholarships available
  • Must have proven yourself through outstanding work and effort
  • Based on cumulative GPA, portfolio and essay
  • Awarded in the form of tuition credit, not cash
  • Amounts based on enrollment status

Awards do not include materials or any other fees or expenses incurred during enrollment. If a recipient withdrwaws from school during the therm for which funds are awarded, the entire amount of the award will be forfeited.

Scholarship Acceptance Forms

If you have been awarded a merit and/or talent scholarship by RMCAD, you will need to sign and return the acceptance form to the Admissions Office before you can be scheduled into your first semester of classes.
