Advising + Scheduling

Academic Advising

Academic advising is a collaboration between you and your Advisor. Your Advisor can assist you in identifying realistic educational goals and outlining a program of study to achieve those goals.

Your Advisor can answer any of your questions and help you understand Foundation Studies, Liberal Arts, program plans, the requirements of your major, course sequence and prerequisites. Your Advisor will offer advice in selecting courses to satisfy degree requirements, clarify policies and regulations, and discuss issues of concern such as course load, study habits, time management or academic problems.

All students are assigned to an Advisor based on their major. You should meet with your Advisor as often as you need to, but will be required to meet twice a year to register for the upcoming term.

Initial Scheduling

After you pay your tuition deposit and complete all financial aid paperwork (if applicable) the Registrar’s Office will create your first term schedule for you. You’ll be scheduled into courses based on the major you declared on your Application for Admission form, unless you notify us of a change.

After your first term, you’ll meet with your Academic Advisor to discuss the course selection and the registration process.

Customize Your Experience

One of the great things about studying at RMCAD is the unique design and flexibility of our academic schedule. When you enroll, you can customize your experience in a way that best suits your career plans and learning style.

Keep in mind… However you choose to progress through RMCAD’s programs of study, you’ll complete the same required number of credit hours and earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in your declared field.
