2D Grads Take SIGGRAPH by Storm
Animation Trio Wins Conference’s First-Ever GameJam! Competition
Three grads of RMCAD’s 2D Animation program—Chance Dodd (AN ’04), Laurissa Hughes (AN ’08), and Melissa Guldbrand (AN ’07)—took home Best of Show in a new competition at this year’s SIGGRAPH Conference.
The GameJam! competition challenged teams to design and implement a video game in just 24 hours. The RMCAD team’s entry, called "Falling for SIGGRAPH," let users manipulate on-screen objects to bounce a character into his destination—the SIGGRAPH Conference. It won the top prize in the 2D category.
The SIGGRAPH Conference and Exhibition is a yearly event, now in its 36th year, focused on computer graphics and interactive techniques. SIGGRAPH 2009 was held in New Orleans and drew an estimated 25,000 professionals. The Conference’s goal is to inspire attendees to pursue new visions and directions, stimulate communication and growth, and foster the fusion and mutual inspiration of science, art and technology.
You can play the winning game that Chance, Laurissa and Melissa created: Falling For Siggraph.
