D.J. Osmack

Art Education–Painting
Class of 2007
Hometown: Colorado Springs, CO

Why did you choose to attend Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design?

I was looking for a small school where I could be surrounded by art. When I first visited RMCAD, I knew that this was the place for me because of the friendly atmosphere.

What has been your favorite class so far and why?

My studio classes are some of my favorites because I get the opportunity to have one-on-one instruction with a working artist.

Tell us about a favorite project you've worked on.

The dome in the Circle Drive. I was one of the members who was led by Bruce [Price] in the construction of the dome. Our class put many hours in outside of class to get it finished. It was a great day to see it arrive at the new campus.

How has RMCAD prepared you for what you want to do when you graduate?

I look forward to teaching art at the elementary and secondary levels, as well as being a practicing artist. The Art Education program has provided us with the knowledge to meet the requirements to become certified teachers as well as successful artists.

How would you describe the students who attend RMCAD?

Passionate, creative, innovative, with a strong desire to create art.

What do you like about living in Denver/Colorado?

I love the weather, being close to the mountains, being centrally located. It is easy to get away for the weekends without having to drive a long distance. Being close to downtown and the art scene is a plus.

How has your life changed since enrolling at RMCAD?

I have become more outgoing and enthusiastic about my future. RMCAD showed me a path to success and I followed it.

What would you want a prospective student to know about RMCAD?

Attending RMCAD is not just about art—RMCAD is a lifestyle.
