In addition to teaching at RMCAD, Joy Wagner owns and manages a design consulting business. Her professional work is focused on sustainable design and green schools. She collaborates with ReThink Learning Environments and the Institute for the Built Environment (IBE) at Colorado State University. She volunteered as the Fundraising Coordinator from 2009-2010 with Green Iowa AmeriCorps, a team that provides weatherization services, energy efficiency and community outreach. Formerly, she has worked for an architectural firm in Fort Collins focusing on commercial office design, multi-family and high-end residential design projects. She is a professional member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) Colorado Chapter and is an active member on their Green Schools Initiative. She is an associate member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). She has been a LEED Accredited Professional since 2009 with a specialty in Building Design & Construction. Additional credentials include IIDA and LEED AP BD&C. She is also the faculty Advisor for the USGBC Student Group and faculty co-advisor IIDA Student Chapter.
