Larry Kresek

Larry Kresek holds the position of Professor Emeritus in the Illustration Department, having retired as Chair of the department, a post that he held previously for 13 years. Before that, he was the first chair for the illustration department at the Ringling School of Art and Design, beginning in 1981, where he was instrumental in the growth and development of that program for sixteen years.

In addition to teaching, Mr. Kresek has worked as a freelance illustrator since 1970. From his early days in New York City, where he created paperback covers for Isaac Asimov, Philip K. Dick, Spider & Jeanne Robinson, and Ray Bradbury to working for such publishers as Dell, Fawcett, Ballentine, Warner, Doubleday, and DAW Books. Moreover, he has created movie posters, record albums, national ads, and pharmaceutical illustrations. His editorial illustrations have won local, regional, and national awards—most notably in Print Magazine's New York Regional competition. Mr. Kresek has been a judge, speaker, exhibitor and adviser to the education committee at the New York Society of Illustrators. Recently he worked as a production artist on the award winning animated film, The Book of Life.

Currently, Mr. Kresek is developing a wide range of projects with his wife Joan for their business, Kresek Art Studio. His website is larrykresek.com.
