Art Educator Retreats

Summer 2008

Teachers of all disciplines and grade levels, as well as individual artists are invited to spend the summer learning in beautiful Estes Park, Colorado!

As regionally and nationally known artists, and residents of Estes Park, our Master artists Margaret Jensen and James Frank are intimately familiar with Rocky Mountain National Park. Margaret and James will take you to their favorite locations to paint and photograph the sublime beauty of the Colorado Rockies. Both retreats are hands-on with participants working on location in the Rocky Mountain National Park.

Plein Air Painting: June 23 – 26, 2008

Led by Plein Air painter, Margaret Jensen, you will paint on location in Rocky Mountain National Park. Using your choice of oil or watercolor media, Margaret will help you see and reproduce the shapes and colors of the Colorado Rockies.

Margaret Jensen has lived in Colorado for over 45 years, most recently in Estes Park, Colorado. Living at the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, has sparked her passion for "plein air" and Jensen can be found painting on location most weeks, weather permitting. Margaret's paintings in oil and watercolor have a strong connection with viewers, as is demonstrated by the many People's Choice Awards she continues to receive. A member of Oil Painters of America, and the Plein Air Painters of Estes Park, Jensen has exhibited in numerous national and regional exhibitions including the 2007 "Oil Painter's of America" show and the Salon International 2007 in San Antonio, TX.

He is an accomplished visual artist of the natural world and perhaps the most experienced and informed photographer of Rocky Mountain National Park. James recently published his fifth beautifully illustrated book of photography Magic in the Mountains: Estes Park, Colorado. His stock photos have been used in advertising for national companies, and receive wide publication in magazines, calendars and cards. Several Estes Park, Colorado galleries, most notably the Aspen and Evergreen Gallery, represent James' line of fine art photographic prints.
