Zach Reini: Father on Fire

11:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Thursday, Jan 10th to Thursday, Mar 7th

RMCAD is proud to present Father on Fire, an exhibition featuring new work by RMCAD Alum Zach Reini. Fire is a curious thing that happens when an object is between states: wood to ash, security to ruin, etc. For Reini it symbolizes a state of flux, an often sporadic search for a resting point. Father On Fire features work containing coexisting, contrasting outcomes in a singular experience to explore the cultural politics of suburban ideals. These are "solutions" to materialize observations, reflections on absurdity and irony; not as to propose that one viewpoint is correct, rather to highlight variables that will help guide the viewer to their own conclusions. Reini explains that his “art-making practice is reductive in nature, searching for ubiquitous ways of conveying ideas with as little information as possible. This is a 'negative-reflection,' a bi-product of our increasingly networked culture, an investigation into the filtering process of the artist confronted with an over-saturation of constantly decimated information.”
