Fine Arts–Painting
Class of 2011
Hometown: Denver, CO

What has been your favorite class so far and why?

Photography. Makes me think and approach art much differently and makes me feel more accomplished.

Which Liberal Studies or Foundations classes did you find the most surprising or useful?

I probably was most interested in Visual Design 2 because I like to make things with my hands. There are a lot of good instructors in Foundations that really love art.

What did your favorite professor do to earn your respect or admiration?

Clark Richert is very inspirational and admirable. His work is fascinating and his input is extremely valuable. He is an ocean of information.

Tell us about a favorite project you've worked on.

The best thing I've been a part of is a video project where people in different time zones coordinated sunrise tailgating parties to welcome and celebrate the sun. The project examined the cultural act of celebration and the inherent power of collaboration.

How would you describe the students who attend RMCAD?

There are good people. There are good people everywhere in the world. Some of them go to RMCAD.

What do you like about living in Denver/Colorado?

I like breathing the air and walking on grass and eating Mexican food.

What kinds of things do you do when you're not attending classes?

I like to cook with no shoes on. I like to spend time on my porch. I like to pet my cat and draw and be with people. I also work at Whole Foods in the cheese department and as a store graphic artist.

Was there a moment when RMCAD changed from "a school" to "my school" for you?

Getting out of the first year is pretty important. It's good to know you are moving forward in time and there is a future.

What would you want a prospective student to know about RMCAD?

There's a weird crawl space at the back of the metal studio where you can take naps.
