Submission Guidelines
The Philip J. Steele, Rude and Alumni Galleries accept exhibition and other project proposals on an ongoing basis. Decisions are made up to two years in advance.
All Submissions Must Include
- Artist/curator CV including current contact information (mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail) Maximum 3 pages per person. If more than 3 participants, maximum 1 page per person.
- A short description of the proposed project, including an outline of the critical and/or curatorial objectives of the work submitted, maximum 1 page.
- Names of all participating artists.
- Exhibition history of each work, including a description of contexts within which the work will be presented in the coming year.
- A statement indicating if the artist(s)/curator(s) plan to be in attendance with the work and, if so, in what capacity the artist(s)/curator(s) expect to participate in the exhibition.
Support material: Please do not send originals as the Philip J. Steele Gallery will not accept responsibility for the loss of, or damage to, any support material. Still images should be submitted on CD (maximum 20 images, .jpg preferred, please do not exceed 72 dpi or a resolution of 1024 X 768 pixels. Video support material should be submitted on DVD, NTSC, DVD player ready. Audio support material should be submitted on CD in mp3 or AAC format.
Complete list of all audio, video, and images submitted. Include artists, titles, year of completion, media, digital file format (if applicable) and dimensions (if applicable). Maximum 1 page. Please include a self-addressed enveloped with the appropriate amount of return postage if you would like your material returned. Exhibition and project proposals may be mailed by regular post or sent electronically.
You may contact the gallery director, Cortney Stell for floorplans. The Philip J. Steele Gallery is committed to reflecting cultural diversity in its programming and thereby encourages applications from artists and curators from all communities. NO unsolicited artwork may be "dropped off" at the gallery for review. Due to art insurance restrictions, such deliveries will be refused. The gallery is not responsible for any unsolicited art or submission materials left or delivered. No receipt of submission will be sent. We will contact you/the artist for more information, if an artist’s work is of future interest.
Please note that electronic submissions are gladly accepted and should be sent via email to cstell@rmcad.edu. Please format your submission as a pdf and include web links to any video or time based works.
