Martha Russo, a sculpture professor at RMCAD, has created new pieces specifically for an installation in the East Gallery. The work, featuring abstract, organic sculptures made up of porcelain “tendrils," takes a cue from famed architect Gaudí and explores the ideas of identification, purpose and inspiration.

Martha is showing similarly-themed pieces in a solo exhibition at New York City's Allan Stone Gallery through mid-October.

“My hope is that people approach my work and stay with it because they are not quite sure what it is,” Russo says. “[I want] to give people a place to let language and purpose slip away and to allow the senses to frolic, to ponder, to delight.”
