"Impressions of Place"

Lisa Steele is both an avid traveler and a skilled artist. In Impressions of Place, her two passions combine to provide a glimpse of some of the destinations that have resonated with her as an artist.

The exhibition consists of six painted, glazed porcelain tiles depicting scenes from foreign locales including Italy, Japan, and China. While the main image of each tile is an impression of the landscape or landmark, each features a stamped frame with a historic reference to the city. In this way Lisa captures both the feeling or sense of a place as well as the lineage of the past.

Lisa has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University. She has exhibited throughout the western United States as well as Australia. Those familiar with RMCAD know Lisa has played a large role in its history. She worked at the school for more than 25 years as both Academic Dean and Vice President for Campus Services. This exhibition marks the beginning of a new era in her life as she once again focuses on her art and travel.
