Warfield Wins Scholarship with Poster Design

RMCAD student Kyle Warfield (GD, ’12), recently won a poster design competition held by the Society of Typographic Arts (STA). The theme of the event was "Typography as meta-communication."

Kyle’s winning piece, "I Love You" (seen above) signifies the many meanings of that phrase with smaller type making up the larger, complicated script.

"Where can we find more communication problems than in a common relationship?" Kyle said. "With so many contradictions and misinterpretations, the phrase 'I Love You' never seems to mean what you want it to."

For winning the competition, Kyle received a $1,000 scholarship and flew to Chicago to be a part of the STA Holiday Party and Auction where his poster was auctioned off for $80.

Congratulations to Kyle on his impressive work.
