What is your favorite spot on campus?

The Illustration department is my favorite, because I find the art on display very appealing. New pieces are put up often, so there's always something refreshing and different to look at.

Where do you like to work on your art?

I enjoy working most during the class period, because everyone gets into what they're doing and the mood is focused. If you need a break, you can walk around and see what other people are working on, or the professor is available to give you a push if you need it.

Which Liberal Studies or Foundation Studies classes did you find the most surprising or useful?

I was surprised that the assignments and professors were so flexible. Depending on the course, the content is mostly up to us as long as it includes the project requirements. There's freedom in the work, so it's enjoyable and we have room to learn, because it's not restricted.

How would you describe the students who attend RMCAD?

Art students usually look strange, but you never see a herd of people dressed exactly the same. There is no normal, and I think that lowers the pressure to fit in or stand out.

Was there a moment when RMCAD changed from "a school" to "my school" for you?

RMCAD changed from "a school" to "my school" during the first critique. Most students keep to themselves while working on assignments, but during critiques they aren't afraid to say what they think, positive or negative. I'm usually quiet, so I felt instantly accepted when the professor and other students addressed my work openly and directly, based on the quality itself rather than me as a person.
