Successful illustrators are masters at drawing and painting. They exemplify the phrase, "A picture is worth a thousand words," by communicating through images what words alone cannot.

RMCAD offers the only illustration program of this caliber outside the hectic environments of the East and West coasts. Our free-spirited and supportive culture provides an ideal incubator for your creative abilities.

Program subject highlights include:

  • technique
  • visual perception
  • conceptual problem solving
  • materials exploration
  • computer software
  • human + animal anatomy
  • figure drawing
  • developing your portfolio

You'll also have the opportunity to choose an emphasis in the rapidly expanding market of Children's Book Illustration. Through four specially-tailored courses, you'll learn to create children's books from start to finish including story-boarding, writing, and character development.

You will graduate with a world class portfolio of work and a network of personal and professional contacts. Plus the ability to portray virtually any concept as a compelling image.
