A Letter From Our President

Hello,

I’m Dr. Maria Puzziferro, President + Provost of Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design, and I am pleased to welcome you to our website. Founded in 1963 by Philip J. Steele, RMCAD has an impressive 48-year history of art and design education.

RMCAD offers the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education, Illustration, Interior Design, Communications Design, Fine Arts, Animation (2D and 3D), and Game Art. All of our programs are offered in flexible formats to fit a variety of lifestyles. Our hybrid programs combine on-campus classes with online classes, and our fully online programs offer a convenient option for working professionals to pursue a degree.

And, even more exciting, RMCAD is planning to offer its first Master of Arts program in Design Thinking and Leadership in 2012! The graduate program will be an innovative degree for those interested in advancing their careers through an interdisciplinary approach of business, leadership, critical thinking and design process.

At RMCAD, we believe that those in the creative disciplines must understand the historical, social, economic and political context of our world. It takes more than skill to venture into the world as a professional artist or designer. True creativity is the product of an enlightened, disciplined and refined mind. Our liberal arts curriculum provides a solid foundation in the humanities, social sciences, history, literature and technology. Within both studio and lecture classes – whether online or on-campus – students are challenged and inspired to think critically and creatively, and to synthesize the past, present and future in their work.

On-campus students learn, create and grow on a beautiful, historic property that serves 600 students and houses 45 full-time faculty. Our faculty are award-winning professional artists and designers, hold advanced degrees in their discipline, and have extensive experience teaching.
