The Assessment in the Arts Conference (AAC) is for faculty and administrators from both higher education and K-12 institutions who are interested in learning from colleagues, gaining perspective, developing their own program and working knowledge of assessment, to have an opportunity to present, and network with other creative discipline professionals. The theme for the 2013 conference is “A Spectrum of Possibilities,” inspiring forward thinking and development of the assessment of student learning, programs/degrees, institutions, and other aspects of assessment of art or design in academia. The keynote address will be given by Meredith Davis, PhD, from North Carolina State University. This conference is unique because it offers a platform for promoting effective art assessment approaches and practices, going deeper into specialty assessment focuses, and exploring new ideas and theories. Another appealing quality of the AAC’13 is its interactive and collaborative nature. Click Here to Register! Are you a Presenter at the conference? Click Here to register! RMCAD invites you to attend the Cause Related poster show. This event features posters from some of the country’s best-known designers, Milton Glaser. Attendees can purchase posters through a silent auction. All proceeds benefit the Giving Voice project, a program that empowers teens with disabilities to share an important issue with the community. Cause Related will open Friday, July 19 at the VSA Access Gallery and run through August. The Giving Voice program matches graphic designers and teen artists with disabilities for a multi-session poster design and mentoring workshop. Designers help teens convey issue-related messages that they value. The partnership culminates in a gallery exhibition. RMCAD has long supported the efforts of AIGA’s student chapter and encourages members of the RMCAD community to attend this exciting event. Click here for more information.
