RMCAD Alumnus Electrifies Live Show With Airbrush Painting

Scott Holcomb’s work environment is a far cry from the quiet, secluded setting that many artists require. Known to many as SKAADI, the painter’s ongoing body of work, “Black Brush Air Light,” consists of live, onstage airbrushing at bass-blasting EDM shows.

Holcomb has defined a psychedelic, phosphorescent style based on eastern philosophy, metaphysics and rave culture. His vision and artistic precision transcend the traditional confines of shape, form and color—a mastery earning him the headline artist title at private art clubs, a long lease loan in a museum and mobile galleries at art and music festivals.

The artist’s influence comes largely from the music absorbing him while painting live on stage. “I’m not sure what other inspiration I’m able to get when 40,000 watts of sound are rattling my easel,” Holcomb says. “I’m really looking forward to another public show.”

Since graduating from RMCAD’s Illustration department in 2011, Holcomb has established his name throughout Denver by incorporating learned techniques and strategy. “What I learned in web-design and Sr. Portfolio about branding and developing a style has prolonged the development for ‘Black Brush Air Light’ for years.”

Holcomb is quickly gearing up for his newest project, “A Collection of Hybrid Art,” to be featured with an opening reception on Friday, October 3, 2014 from 6:00-11:30 p.m. at The Fusion Factory. The month-long show will feature the artist’s work, concluding with a closing reception bash on Halloween night, October 31, 2014.
