40 West Arts District Receives State Certification

40 West Arts has become officially state-certified as one of only 11 creative districts within Colorado. RMCAD is both honored and ecstatic to be in the heart of this community and wishes to congratulate 40 West Arts District on this distinguished accomplishment.

A 501(c)3 nonprofit, 40 West Arts District encompasses an entire community geared towards the progression of artistic and creative energy with performing arts venues, 20+ public art installations, a dozen galleries, and a variety of restaurants, cafes and pubs. Board Chair member Bill Marino affirms “[i]t’s not about one person or one organization; it’s about the community, and working together to pursue the vision of building an authentic and sustainable creative community.”

Approved by Colorado Creative Industries, a division of the state’s Office of Economic Development and International Trade, certification of 40 West Arts District is part of a larger state initiative to revitalize communities, attract artists and creative entrepreneurs, and create economic hubs rich with culture, celebration and attraction.

With RMCAD’s campus ramping up for the start of its Fall 2014 semester, students’ work will continue to endow artistic contribution to the collective identity that has established and defined the 40 West District community.
