RMCAD Scholarships

We sponsor a number of scholarhsips for both new and returning students.

RMCAD Scholarships for New Students

RMCAD awards three types of scholarship support to new students; talent scholarships, merit scholarships and community scholarships. Award amounts range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars, depending on the number of applicants and the range of talent presented.

Talent Scholarships

To be eligible for an talent-based scholarship, you must first complete all admission application requirements and you must intend to be a full-time student. Please submit the following:

  • A digital portfolio representing 15 to 20 pieces of work.
  • A one-page personal statement that responds to this question: What special qualities of character, scholarship and talent do you bring to RMCAD?
  • A letter of recommendation from an art teacher, professional artist or someone else other than a family member who can speak to your artistic talents and potential. Please have this letter sent directly to RMCAD.

Your talent scholarship application materials must be received by these dates. If these dates fall on a weekend, we will accept materials up until 5:00 pm MT the next regular business weekday. Incomplete submissions or submissions received after the deadline will not be considered.

  • November 1st for students enrolling in the spring
  • February 1st for students enrolling in the summer
  • March 1st for students enrolling in the fall

All talent scholarship applicants will be notified in writing as to whether or not they receive an award approximately one month following the deadlines listed above. Once scholarships are awarded, recipients have approximately 30 days to remit a Scholarship Acceptance Form and pay an enrollment deposit in order to secure their talent scholarship award. Lack of response and/or receipt of paperwork and/or deposit will result in scholarship award forfeiture. Talent scholarships are renewable for a maximum of 8 terms of study, with satisfactory academic progress.

Merit Scholarships

New students and transfer students with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher may be eligible to receive a merit scholarship. Through a telephone or in-person interview your Admissions Counselor can help you determine your eligibility. Merit scholarships are renewable for a maximum of 8 terms of study, with satisfactory academic progress. There is no deadline to apply and awards are made on a continuous basis throughout the year.

RMCAD Scholarships for Currently Enrolled Students

Currently enrolled students will be notified of scholarhsip application deadlines and procedures via their RMCAD email account.

Awards do not include materials or any other fees or expenses incurred during enrollment. If a recipient withdrwaws from school during the therm for which funds are awarded, the entire amount of the award will be forfeited.

Legacy Scholarship Competition

RMCAD awards one $16,000 merit scholarship annually to a high school senior whose parent(s) graduated from RMCAD.  The scholarship is paid out over the course of 8 terms of study.

To be eligible for this award the enrollee must submit a digital portfolio containing 15-20 examples of their work along with a letter from the parent explaining why they feel the student would benefit from attending RMCAD.  They must also complete an Application for Admission form.

The deadline to apply for this scholarship is March 1 and the student chosen to receive this scholarship will be notified no later than March 31.

Scholarship Acceptance Forms

If you have been awarded a merit and/or talent scholarship by RMCAD, you will need to sign and return the acceptance form to the Admissions Office before you can be scheduled into your first semester of classes.
