RMCAD is a school full of wonderful contrasts:

Small Community

We're small on purpose. We want RMCAD to be a safe and supportive place to develop and explore your creativity. Small class sizes and an incredibly involved faculty provide the ideal environment for this. You'll also be on a first name basis with everyone you need to know—from your department chair to the person who can help with your schedule or financial aid.

Big Opportunities

Our faculty members are entrenched in the worlds of art and design, from local galleries and museums to international associations and trade organizations. Despite our informal atmosphere, you'll be connected to serious professionals who are more than happy to help a hard-working student get their foot in the door.

Deep Learning

Technology is a necessary tool for every artist and designer. But more important are the ideas and concepts that are part of the creative process. We emphasize informed creativity, meaningful work and professional conduct in addition to superior technical skills.

Shallow Footprint

RMCAD is a green campus. From our lawns, trees and on-campus vegetable garden to our extensive recycling program, conservation efforts and sustainable design practices are a priority.

Light Hearted

When it comes to art and design, if you're not having fun, you're not doing it right. We try very hard to maintain a constructive and supportive creative environment, while throwing in a heavy dose of whimsy, play and excitement. Come for a campus visit and you'll see what we mean.

Heavy Commitment

Every student at RMCAD is here because they want to be here. They're dedicated to expanding their skills and connecting with other artists and designers. The success of our alumni is the result of long hours in the studio, constructive critiques, and a substantial amount of experimentation and soul searching. The common thread that ties our community together is that everyone takes their work very seriously.
