Colorado Living

If you're planning on attending RMCAD from another state we would like to offer you a quick tour of the state of Colorado.

People have been known to come to Colorado for vacation, or to visit friends, or just to pass through – and become so enamored with our casual culture and natural beauty that they never leave.

Peaks and Plains

The Eastern half of the state is covered with rolling high altitude prairie. Farms and small towns dot the landscape, becoming more frequent as you approach the foot of the mighty Rocky Mountains.

Colorado’s largest cities stretch along the base of the mountains: Ft. Collins, Boulder, Denver, Colorado Springs, Pueblo – each with its own distinct personality and charm.

Denver is the state capitol, and is unique among America’s large cities. It offers all of the services and cultural opportunities found in other major cities, without sacrificing the friendly and casual atmosphere of a smaller western town.

The City and the Wilderness

The RMCAD campus is in Lakewood, a suburb of Denver located between downtown and the foothills. Ten minutes East and you will find yourself among the tall buildings, clubs, restaurants, galleries, and cafes of the city center. A few minutes drive West from campus and you will enter the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

There, between 14,000 foot peaks and nestled among the conifer and aspen forests, you will discover a scattered constellation of cozy resort towns, abandoned mining settlements and thriving mountain villages.

Colorado’s Rockies cover an area six times the size of Switzerland and provide the best views and opportunities for adventure in North America.

Ski in winter, or challenge the same slopes on your mountain bike in the summer. If you’re not into rafting, climbing, hiking or kayaking Colorado has less strenuous options. Take a road trip with some friends, unwind in a hot spring, or sit on top of a mountain and let the cool air, dazzling blue skies and endless sea of snow-capped peaks inspire you.
