If you're already attending college but feel like it's time to make a positive change, consider transferring to RMCAD. You won't be alone. About one third of our students started at another college or had already earned a degree before they found out about our supportive creative community, quality faculty and tiny class sizes.
I never felt like a part of my previous school. But on the first day at RMCAD I could sense that this was "my school."
The teachers at RMCAD really want to know who you are and where you come from. Because the classes are small, each student is able to get to know each other, too.

Will Your Credits Transfer?
Will Your Credits Transfer?
Figuring out which classes will transfer can be tricky—we want to make this process as simple as possible. So the first thing you should do is call ( contact information is to the right).
We'll look at your transcripts and help you plan a transfer to RMCAD. If you're still enrolled at another school they can also advise you on which classes to take before you transfer.
Antiquity Policy
Antiquity Policy
There are no antiquity requirements for credits that are deemed equivalent to lower division (1000 or 2000 level) RMCAD art and design credits.
Digital media and other computer-based courses will be considered for transfer provided they were completed within two years of the beginning of the term for which you're applying.
Credits that are comparable to upper division RMCAD classes must have been completed within ten years of the term for which you're applying. Once the ten-year period has lapsed, credit is contingent upon a clearly demonstrated ability—as determined by the department chair—to complete a given program of study. These requirements apply to the transfer of art and design courses only; they do not apply to liberal studies courses.
If you have any questions about transfer credits please contact your Admissions Counselor. Please see the catalog for further details.
Prior Degrees
Prior Degrees
Students who have a liberal arts degree from a regionally-accredited college or university will automatically receive credit for all of their Liberal Studies requirements, except for art history. Credit for art history will be evaluated based on course equivalency.
Other degrees, as well as degrees from schools outside the U.S. or that are not regionally accredited, will be evaluated based on individual course equivalency. Prior degree policy will apply to Art Education majors only after all state requirements are met.
Please see the catalog for further details.
Official Transcript Evaluation
Official Transcript Evaluation
Students with college credit and/or IB, CLEP or AP scores will have all transcripts evaluated for possible RMCAD credit. We don't do "partial" evaluations, so we'll need all transcripts in order to begin this process.
Exception to policy form
Exception to policy form
If for some reason you are unable to obtain a transcript with final grades and/or IB, CLEP and/or AP scores reflected, you may be asked to complete an “Exception to Policy” form. Remitting this form allows RMCAD to move forward in scheduling you without final transcripts in place. However, in order to be scheduled for subsequent semesters you'll need to provide an official transcript (see first item on this page).
Transcript Evaluation for Late Applicants
Transcript Evaluation for Late Applicants
Students who apply less than one month before the beginning of the term are considered late applicants. If you are a late applicant, you may save time by submitting unofficial transcripts with your application. Make sure to include both sides of any documents copied.
If you send unofficial transcripts, you'll still need to arrange for our admissions office to receive official documents during your first term. We cannot grant transfer credits or allow you to register for additional terms until we've evaluated your official transcripts. If you enroll for a class that later turns out to be transferable from a prior institution, you will not receive a refund. Please contact your Admissions Counselor with any questions.
Continuing Students Seeking Transfer Credit
Continuing Students Seeking Transfer Credit
Current RMCAD students who are also taking courses at another institution and would like to transfer those credits to RMCAD should submit official transcripts with final grades to the RMCAD Registrar's office as soon as they become available. Official transcripts are due no later than one term after completion of the course.
