Mission
Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design prepares passionate students for creative careers, with an emphasis on individualized instruction in a success-oriented college campus and online environment.
Accreditation
Academic credibility that pays.
Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA).
In addition, RMCAD’s degree offerings in art and design are accredited by the prestigious National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), a designation that places RMCAD among the nation’s top art schools.
Accreditation for Interior Design
The on-campus professional Interior Design BFA program is fully accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). Both the on-campus and online Interior Design BFA programs share the same faculty and curriculum, so it is our goal to achieve CIDA accreditation for the online program in the future.
Accreditation for Art Education
RMCAD is approved by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education and the Colorado Department of Education to offer an art education program that leads to an Initial Educator License, which allows graduates to teach grades K-12 art in public schools.
Why Accreditation Matters
QUALITY ASSURANCE
Schools accredited by the aforementioned agencies are held to a high degree of accountability. Independent agencies regularly scrutinize our programs to verify that we employ the most relevant and comprehensive approaches to education.
PREPAREDNESS TO WORK
Accreditation ensures that our programs help students to develop and practice their art, while also equipping them with the necessary tools to succeed in the real world after graduation.
PORTABILITY OF CREDITS
The fact is that many students will enroll in more than one college or university while completing their undergraduate studies. With our high level of accreditation, courses taken at RMCAD are far more likely to be accepted for transfer credits than courses taken at a school that is not accredited.
LONGEVITY OF CREDITS
After earning an undergraduate degree (BFA, BA, BS), many students choose to continue their studies and pursue a graduate level degree (MFA, MA, PhD). Students who do not study at an accredited school as an undergraduate may not be eligible for graduate programs at accredited colleges and universities. Consult with an Admissions Counselor for further information.
Military Affiliation
Colorado Office of Veterans Education & Training, which is governed by the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education (SBCCOE).
RMCAD is approved for Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy and U.S government tuition assistance through the DODMOU.
