Community Involvement

Get to Know Us

RMCAD thrives off collaborative endeavors

That’s why we’re excited to partner with local organizations and flex our creative capacities towards their events, establishments, and causes.

RMCAD is very proud to work closely with the following local community partners:

RMCAD’s campus is located in the heart of the 40 West Art District, one of Colorado’s 21 state-certified creative districts. A 501(c)3 nonprofit, the 40 West Arts District encompasses an entire community geared towards the progression of artistic and creative energy with performing arts venues; 20+ public art installations; a dozen galleries; and a variety of restaurants, cafes, and pubs. RMCAD partners with 40 West through the Artist in Residence program, financial support, board participation, and event contribution.

RMCAD regularly hosts teachers from Jefferson County Public Schools District for professional development lectures and workshops. Faculty from JeffCo visit campus for a day to learn and discuss new teaching methodologies and best practices to incorporate into their own classrooms.

RMCAD is a member of Cumulus, the International Association of Universities and Colleges of Art, Design, and Media. Founded in 1990, Cumulus is the only global association to serve art and design education and research. It is a forum for partnership and transfer of knowledge and best practices.

Every year RMCAD hosts National Portfolio Day (NPD) on its campus. At this event, participants have the opportunity to meet with representatives from a variety of National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) accredited colleges to discuss and review artwork in preparation for college admission. Reach Studio is a free, open, and supportive arts space where artists in Denver’s “not exactly” homeless and in-transition community can come to express themselves creatively, be exposed to new art forms, collaborate with peers, learn new skills, and challenge each other to take the next step in their art and in their lives. Reach artists have access to instructive and non-instructive class time, resident/community artist mentors, a professional space to display and sell their work, drop-in studio hours, and a yearly Reach Studio Exhibition.

The Colorado Business Committee for the Arts (CBCA) works to advance Colorado’s creative economy by connecting business and the arts. As partners with CBCA, RMCAD students, staff and faculty are encouraged to participate in the events to celebrate and contribute to the vital arts and cultural community of Colorado.

RMCAD is a proud partner with the City of Lakewood to drive awareness about art events happening throughout the community. This collaboration is meant to provide the public with the knowledge of what’s happening locally through student, faculty and alumni work as well as bringing light to events in the Lakewood area. The City of Lakewood is home to talented artists, thriving cultural organizations and diverse community celebrations. Click here to read more about Arts and Culture in the City of Lakewood.
