While thinking about future classes, you might be curious to learn which ones are popular among RMCAD students and what makes them so great. Whether you are undeclared or looking to branch out from your area of study, we compiled a list of four exciting RMCAD classes that all students love, regardless of major.
FD 1370 – LIFE DRAWING I
Whether you are striving to land a Disney internship or become a commercial interior designer, a great drawing foundation is essential to perfecting your craft. Life Drawing I is a freshman-level course that introduces students to drawing the human figure. Learning the proper techniques to sketch and draw proportions, anatomy, and color can often be overlooked by students new to the field, but it is critical for success. In addition to technique, the variety of tools you will use in Life Drawing I will be relevant for your college career and beyond.
IL 2840 – ANIMAL ANATOMY + DRAWING
According to Sean Brown, Chair of Animation and Game Art, many students choose to take Animal Anatomy + Drawing because it challenges their creative skills while getting to learn in a unique environment. With sessions taking place at the Denver Zoo and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, this is a popular choice for students looking to find a class that is full of energy and opportunity to grow. From sketching energetic orangutans to drawing fossilized creatures from long ago, this is an exciting class to keep on your radar for your next term.
IL 2850 – FIGURATIVE SCULPTURE
Whether you are creating art with a paintbrush, tablet, or other tools, hand-eye coordination is an important skill for all students to develop during their academic careers. Figurative Sculpture, a sophomore-level course, invites students to do just that by learning advanced techniques used to make human head sculptures out of W.E.D. clay. From your first time working with clay to polishing your amazing creation, this course is entertaining, inspiring, and a great way to connect with RMCAD students of similar interests.
CW 2110 – CREATIVE WRITING MULTI-GENRE
While art can take you far, communication is key when it comes to building a network, creating inspiring artist statements, and sharing your creative journey with the world. Creative Writing Multi-Genre is a sophomore-level course that allows students to expand upon their introductory writing courses and challenge themselves creatively. From studying history’s incredible creative writers to applying it to your own work, this course might be an unexpected favorite that takes your confidence and communication skills to the next level.
