ABOUT CHERISH FLIEDER
Cherish Flieder, a Colorado native, grew up with breathtaking sunsets over the Rockies, fields of wildflowers, and a passion for making art. Her watercolor/mixed-media illustration style called “Something to Cherish®” is inspired by heartfelt stories and the beauty of nature.

Flieder is an internationally featured and award-winning artist, based in Golden, CO. Her quality designs have helped to sell millions of dollars of product all over the world. Her work has been seen at retail in galleries, boutique craft, gift, stationery, and garden shops as well as private resorts, country clubs, upscale department stores such as Macy’s and Nordstrom, J.C. Penney, Jo-Ann Fabric Stores and even Barnes & Noble end-cap displays. Over the years she has created thousands of images for fashion designs, books, crafts, stationery, and home décor markets. Apparel she has helped to develop has even been sighted on celebrity icons such as Oprah and Clint Eastwood.

She leads an international group on social media of over 20K members on the topic of “Art of Licensing” (ArtOfLicensing.com) and founded ArtLicensingShow.com, a private portfolio site connecting artists and licensees. Cherish is passionate about nurturing creative entrepreneurs and since 2008 she has taught as an adjunct Illustration instructor at Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design.

ABOUT AMBER COBB
Amber Cobb’s work investigates the primal and sensual nature of intimacy and sexuality. Through sculpture, painting, and installation, she transforms and reconstructs physical objects and physiological relationships. Notions of abjection and attraction find themselves challenged within the surfaces and forms. Cobb has exhibited both nationally and internationally. This includes xiao shan xiao at the Hunan Province Art Museum in Kaifeng, Millennial Pink at Untitled Miami, and Palettable Relations at Galeria Hilario Galgura in Mexico City, MX. She has shown in numerous exhibitions and institutions in the Colorado region including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, Gallery of Contemporary Art in Colorado Springs, and at RedLine.  Cobb’s mattress works were highlighted in New American Paintings, #114 and her solo show Solace was reviewed in Sculpture Magazine their May, 2016 issue. Cobb is represented by Gray Contemporary in Houston, TX and by Gildar Gallery in Denver, CO.

ABOUT THE FACULTY FOCUS SERIES
The Faculty Focus Series provides an opportunity to highlight and celebrate RMCAD faculty’s work and accomplishments as artists, researchers, and practitioners. Throughout this exciting and ongoing series, faculty members provide insight into their creative endeavors outside of the classroom and how those activities influence and energize their expertise and leadership within the RMCAD community.

First Faculty Focus Presentation Topic
For their first Faculty Focus talk, presenters share their art, design, or research practice and work. This may be a broad overview or a more focused look at a specific piece, series, or project.

Second Faculty Focus Presentation Topic
For the second round of Faculty Focus talks, presenters share some of their influences and connect those inspirations to their own creative work. These talks explore the various styles, philosophies, materials, techniques, or concepts that motivate and inform the faculty’s practice.
