Epic Project Space
Join the RMCAD community in welcoming an exhibition by Photography Program Lead, Shawn James Loseke in the Epic Project Space!
REMNANTS is a body of work produced by Shawn James Loseke using a modern approach to Pictorialism influenced imagery using modern technology and editing techniques. The photographs produced concentrate on atmosphere, composition and tone along with other hallmarks of Pictorialism. Shawn creates initial photography of abandoned locations, using a cellular phone camera. The editing was completed in Adobe Photoshop. Shawn believes that it is important to show work beyond the digital realm so physical archival ink jet prints were created and framed for display in a gallery setting as the culmination of the artistic process. This body of work will be on display in the 2nd floor Corner gallery of the EPiC building, from April 18 through May 23.
Shawn James Loseke is a visual artist who uses photographic language to engage with personal and collective memory. He experiments with various methods and techniques to depict dreams, melancholic and nostalgic feelings. He consciously expands the boundaries of his observation and explores cognitive and conceptual values. He examines how we archive ourselves through images and spaces, shaping our sense of being. His artistic endeavors are an extension of his personal experiences and passions. He is influenced, among other things, by the places he has lived and traveled, by nature, and by literature.
