Kick off 2018 Right With These Upcoming Events

It’s a new year, a new term, and time to get back into the swing of things. There are a ton of student and community events happening at RMCAD, and there’s no better way to kick off 2018 than packing your schedule with art-inspired activities.

Here are a few highlights of what’s to come in the next few weeks:

AUTONOMY : Experimental Life Drawing

Every Wednesday, 4:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Rude 102

AUTONOMY is a non-instructed weekly experimental life drawing session open to students, alumni and the creative community. Practice and experiment with drawing styles and techniques surrounding while observing the anatomy of the figure. Bring your favorite drawing materials, a drawing board, and we’ll provide the space and live model.

Please note: This event is open to the public, but RMCAD students will receive first priority seating.

Faculty Lecture Series

Thursday, January 11, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
Mary Harris Auditorium

Beyond the classroom, RMCAD faculty members are active and engaged artists, designers, and thinkers. The Faculty Lecture Series presents short talks by RMCAD faculty about their work, process, and research. Join us this month to hear from Alison Leedy (Liberal Arts), and Robb Fladry (Graphic Design, Dean of Students). This event is open to RMCAD students, staff, faculty and alumni. Lunch will be provided.

Attempting to Delay the Inevitable: Lecture and Exhibition Opening

Using elemental materials and complex filming systems in combination with the poetics of chance and motion, Clements assembles ephemeral moments to create dynamic temporal sculptures (see for yourself!)

Join the VASD Program for a lecture by Clements in which she’ll give insight to the complex and exciting process of making these works. After her talk, there will be an opening reception for Clements’ exhibition in Philip J. Steele Gallery. The exhibition will remain open until February 16.

Wayfinding Lecture Series: Evan Mann

In the next installment of our Wayfinding Lecture Series, Evan Mann, filmmaker and owner of Denver-based Otherworldly Productions, a commercial video production company, will share his personal journey as a creative professional and provide insight to students who are interested in working in similar fields.

This event is open to the RMCAD community. Come for the career advice, stay for the free food (lunch will be provided).
