AJ Boik

The Legacy Of AJ Boik

It was with great sadness that we at RMCAD received the news over the summer of the passing of AJ Boik. AJ, 18, was a recent graduate of Gateway High School in Aurora and one of the victims of the horrific movie theater shootings in July. AJ was set to join us as a student in our Art Education department in the fall of 2012. It is a tragedy of the worst kind when you not only lose a young life, but one filled with such unique promise. AJ was planning a career and life that would have impacted countless others through his teaching and his art. We know that AJ touched many lives in his much too short life and that many of those people are looking for a way to honor his memory.

Working with AJ’s family, The RMCAD Foundation has established the AJ Boik Furthering Education Fund. Since AJ was so passionate about pursuing his own college education, his family wanted to establish the Fund to serve as aid to anyone with educational expenses. Monies from the fund will be awarded to art and design students for educational and living expenses through an application process.
