Meet the Young Designers Who Faced Off Against Von Miller in a Fashion Challenge

In February, RMCAD’s Fashion Design Department received an unlikely visitor—Denver Broncos player Von Miller. The football player, along with his brothers, faced off against four RMCAD Fashion Design students in a styling challenge, complete with a runway show, for his Facebook Watch web series, Von Miller’s Studio 58.

It’s safe to say our students held their own in the competition, but when they aren’t appearing on camera, they are working hard on their own designs and learning the skills they’ll need to succeed as professionals in the fashion industry.

Here are a few things you may not know about these young designers:

Alexandra Knox, Senior

“I have enjoyed sewing since middle school. Every time I successfully completed a project, it made me feel so good. When I was deciding what to pursue in college, nothing really spoke to me except for fashion design. I love seeing something unfold in my hands.”

Designers who inspire her: Alex Teih Couture and Alexander McQueen.
What’s next: Alexandra has an internship lined up with designer DeeDee Vicory at The Wedding Seamstress. She’ll also be designing a wedding dress for her best friend in the upcoming year.

Shara Jaworski, Sophomore

“I would describe my design style as vintage-inspired, yet sometimes futuristic, fun, unique, and boundary-pushing. “

What she’s interested in right now: Exploring masculine and androgynous looks through oversized silhouettes.
Short and long-term goals: Shara plans on finding a job working with a clothing company after graduation, but hopes to eventually create her own brand.

Haley Long, Senior

“I decided to pursue fashion as my career as a way to work with my favorite canvas, the human body. I believe that fashion is not only practical and necessary, but also an art form.”

What influences her design: Colors in their most unsaturated state, music, and her personal experiences.
Future goals: Haley aspires to open her own boutique and launch an independent clothing brand.

Anna Vo, Junior

“I decided to pursue fashion design because I’ve always had a passion for creating unique designs and wanted to formally create my own collection.”

Her style: Formal, modest simple dresses.
Favorite designer: Zuhair Murad.
What’s next: Anna would like to work at a bridal shop after she graduates, or open her own tailor shop.
