ROAM is a tumbling light sculpture by Black Cube Artist Jon Geiger that cues from the iconography of the West—referencing both the shape of a billboard and the iconic from the tumbleweed. The 26 foot sculpture is an abstracted, animated, white neon tumbleweed consisting of five neon structures, each illuminated individually to create a rolling movement of light.
True to its nomadic nomenclature, ROAM is a pop up exhibition that will be featured June through October of 2016 in two different locations: RMCAD’s West Texas building roof and Marjorie Park at Fiddlers Green Amphitheater.
Geiger received his BFA in ceramics from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2010 and his MFA in ceramics from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2014. Geiger’s work centers on the mysticism of the American West, the power of land, and the frontier spirit—often challenging their origins and place in the imagination.
