Six RMCAD activities that will get you exploring the beautiful state of Colorado

Whether it’s the nearly 300 days of sunshine, the endless hiking trails, the world-class ski resorts, or the state’s famous natural attractions, Colorado has become one of the most sought-after places to live in the U.S. At RMCAD, we love welcoming students to our beautiful state and introducing them to fun, unique excursions as part of our Explore Colorado program.

Meow Wolf Trip

6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. | Meow Wolf Convergence Station

For those looking for an immersive art experience in Denver, Meow Wolf is the place to go! Just a few miles east down Colfax from RMCAD, this psychedelic installation piece titled Convergence Station is a “journey of discovery into a surreal, science-fictional epic.” Join your fellow RMCAD students in discovering the multi-media work of 110 local artists.

Stanley Hotel Night Tour

The inspiration for Stephen King’s novel The Shining The Stanley Hotel is a historic building in Estes Park, Colorado. Built in 1909, the Stanley tour is perfect for horror, history, and architecture fans alike. Just try not to get lost in the hotel’s hedge maze!

Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche are currently one of the best teams in the NHL! Even if you’re not a die-hard hockey fan, don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to grab a pretzel and cheer on the local team. The Ball Arena is also home to the Denver Nuggets, the Colorado Mammoth, and tons of concerts by big-name acts.

The classic The Nutcracker comes to life at the Colorado Ballet this season. Get into the holiday spirit this year by enjoying one of the finest productions in the country known for its outstanding sets, costumes, and performances. No matter what kind of artist you are, you’ll agree that The Nutcracker is a feast for the eyes and ears.

Ski + Board at Loveland

7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. | Loveland Ski Area

A favorite RMCAD tradition is a day at the Loveland Ski Area. Whether you prefer to ski or board, enjoy a day on the slopes with your fellow classmates at this low-key resort. Bring your gear or rent some on the mountain as you hit the champagne powder and make lifelong memories.

We hope you are just as excited as we are to attend these six must-visit Colorado destinations! The program includes tickets and admission to all events as well as a meal or snack. Students must pay in full for all six events by Friday, September 15, 2023, or you can register for individual events up to one day prior.
