RMCAD is committed to equal access and participation for all persons, including those with disabilities, in academic areas and other RMCAD sponsored programs. The SAS coordinates reasonable accommodations to afford equal opportunity and full participation for students with disabilities.
We look forward to working with you on any accommodation needs as early as possible so you have everything in place from the beginning of each term. Current medical documentation of disability is required in order to determine appropriate accommodations. All information provided is kept separate and confidential and will not be a part of RMCAD student records.
Once admitted to RMCAD, students wishing to have accommodations must self identify and request accommodations by following the process:
The student must provide completed forms (Request for Accommodations and Informed Consent) along with appropriate documentation in order for the file to be complete.
Once SAS file is complete, an intake appointment will be set for an intake with the student. During the intake appointment, students discuss their requests for accommodations and the impacts of their disability in the academic setting.
SAS will review completed files prior to the intake appointment. The review process generally takes up to one week.
A plan for accommodations is developed during the intake appointment. Once accommodations are granted, the student will be given a Letter of Accommodations. Students are encouraged to share their letter with faculty members. Note: Accommodations are not considered in place until the student shares their letter and discusses their accommodation needs with their faculty members.
Students may request an appointment with the SAS Coordinator any time to discuss the above process, documentation guidelines, or any concerns the student may have during the application process.
