Earlier this month, AIGA awarded the Robert Taylor Scholarship to RMCAD student Gustavo Esquinca.
Out of 1,500 entries, Wheat Ridge High School has been placed among the 50 semifinalists in the Vans Custom Culture Contest. This contest challenges high school students nationwide to create custom- designed Vans shoes. Votes can be cast at vans.com until May 13.
The 2013 Film on the Rocks T-shirt Design Contest is now open for RMCAD students and alumni! The winning design will be featured on the official 2013 Film on the Rocks T-shirts.
RMCAD faculty member Ania Gola-Kumor’s exhibition Moving Paint has received praise from the Denver Westward.
What: Green Building Hack-a-thon, a one-day event that prepares participants for any LEED accreditation exam, provides eight hours of LEED Credential Maintenance and supports local community organizations. Where: Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design, Texas Building When: Saturday, June 1, 2013, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. RMCAD is proud to host the Denver Green Build Hack-a-thon on Saturday, June 1, 2013, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Participants in this one-day event will overhaul the green building workforce, accelerate access to affordable green buildings and gain both knowledge and fun. Participants will work on five to ten community projects. Tasks include evaluating LEED credit and green building strategy and assisting participating organizations in the design and green consulting of a real-world LEED project. Upon completion, participants will be qualified for any LEED accreditation exam, have eight hours of LEED Credential Maintenance under their belts and gain experience working on a LEED Platinum project. What: Denver Chalk Art Festival Where: Larimer Square, downtown Denver When: June 1, 2013 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and June 2, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. RMCAD is pleased to return as a sponsor of the Denver Chalk Art Festival in Larimer Square. The school will also send a team of students to participate in the event. The Denver Chalk Art Festival is a free event in which artists fill Larimer Square with chalk paintings. This year’s festival will be held June 1 and 2, and will feature live music, vendors and a kid’s corner. RMCAD is proud to present the Chalk Art Festival’s Youth Challenge. This component of the event features a dozen talented groups of youth and students from Colorado schools and organizations. All will compete for cash prizes that will go to their respective schools’ visual arts departments. In previous years, RMCAD’s team of students has taken home the People’s Choice Award for their unique designs. By the end of this workshop you will be familiar with the story process as well as the basics of creating a storyboard.The Production ProcessIn this workshop you will learn the basics of several of the software packages that are used to make animated films and video games. By the end of this workshop you will have a basic understanding about 3d modeling and animation software.The Post-Production ProcessIn this workshop you will learn about the process of compositing and editing. After the animated film is rendered it is typically imported into video software for finalization. This involves adding effects as well as sound design. Join us for the Water Tower Art + Craft Market! On Saturday, July 13 from 10 am – 2 pm, RMCAD faculty, staff, students and alumni will join local artists to sell their handmade wares on campus. Local bands will provide entertainment, while an eclectic selection of food vendors offer lunch and snacks. Demonstrations from a variety of RMCAD departments will also be offed. RMCAD faculty, staff, students and graduates can register for a table at the festival for no cost. Booth registration for local artists is available for $30. Click here for more information.
