He is excited to announce his participation in "Animalia," a group exhibition at the Lakewood Cultural Center from September 22 through January 6, 2024. Paul will be showing six pieces that span the artistic mediums of drawing, painting, collage, and fibers. "I am an illustration major, and here is one of the projects from my Illustration I class. The theme of this project was fears and phobias, so I decided to represent examinophobia. Test taking and timed tests in particular have always been a challenge for me, so getting the chance to represent that in my work was a unique and interesting opportunity. In partnership with @denverbotanic, RMCAD Graphic

In partnership with @denverbotanic, RMCAD Graphic Design student Harry Plymell recently illustrated two children’s books for their final class project in "Special Topics: Sustainable Design + Pollinators."

Using homemade watercolors, they constructed the book to be 100% recyclable. Plymell worked with the DGB's librarian to coordinate a reading of one of their books to children in the organization's library on their free day. After the reading, the Denver Botanic Gardens added Plymell's children's book to their library collection so future generations can read it for years to come.

"While it was hard to get the kids to sit down in the reading, they did really get excited about beetles. One of them was talking about how bugs were good for the “earf,” and another one said he was more of a beetle than a bee." #StudentSpotlight #SustainableDesign

The concept of the photo essay was to capture the many different faces in martial arts and to show them in a fierce and dynamic way. "My painting “Echo” is 30x40, acrylic on canvas. I wanted to convey the strength of an eagle but also the subtly it takes to get the wind flowing beneath its wings to take flight. Illustrating birds is always humbling and takes lots of patience due to the insane amount of detail they pose. It was challenging but the end result was definitely worth it." "This is my final assignment for Digital Illustration II. The assignment was to create a character design. I’ve always been in love with goth aesthetics and music, so I created a character with that entire aesthetic: a vampire rocker-chick. I’m still tinkering with names for her, but nonetheless, I love her and had the best time making her! (I even made a playlist of songs that sounded like her vibe to me). “This piece was created as a final for my Art of Math class. The final required me to use a mathematical concept to develop a work of art, resulting in my stylistic interpretation of the Fibonacci spiral. The work features a ram skull with sprouting tree branches for antlers. With birds adorning the branches and leaves growing from the stylistic antlers, the illustration caters to the symmetrical layout of the Fibonacci spiral, showcasing the value of math in constructing a dynamic work of art.” Shout out to Hannah Wrede on this piece! "This piece was for my final project for Illustration I. We were instructed to choose a word and illustrate our interpretation of the word. Mine was Datsuzoku — to break from habit or routine. I decided to reflect on my own routine and the part of it that I wish to break. Something that came up for me was driving in traffic and how draining it is. I captured some great landscapes with the early morning light and loved how they turned out. "This is the final for my Digital II class, which

"This is the final for my Digital II class, which was a character design project. I had to choose from a list of over 50 character prompts and ran with the idea of a keymaster, who after a lifetime of locks and keys has become a giant skeletal figure, even slowly morphing into the thing that has consumed its life. I wanted to go a more horror-themed route with this, making the Keymaster skeletal and gargantuan and adding to the mystery of who they are, such as with the bones forming into locks and keys. All around, I had a ton of fun making this project, especially with adding all the textures to the bones, keys, and walls." Shout out to Cameron Barry on this piece! "'Summer Daze' is a painting that I did for my lat

"'Summer Daze' is a painting that I did for my latest postcard. It is acrylic on canvas, with some details in colored pencil. Since graduating from RMCAD, I found that sending out quarterly postcards has been a good way to keep myself working on projects for my portfolio. Consistency has been key. Even if I am not producing as much work as I used to when I was in school, it has been crucial to keep up a daily routine of creating. It keeps my mind limber and the new ideas coming."
