This panel is a special opportunity to learn more about artist residencies in Denver and beyond. You’ll get expert advice about how to become an artist in residence, as well as tips for success as a resident artist. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the panel will begin at 6:30 p.m. If you are unable to attend the event in-person, you can join us remotely using the link at the bottom of this page.

About Our Panelists
Laura Baxter is currently Head of Adult Programs at the Denver Art Museum, responsible for a lively public program that connects adults of all ages and abilities to the DAM’s world class art and cultures collection. She has over 17 years of experience working with arts and cultural institutions and has worked with art galleries and museums in the USA, the UK and Japan.

Lauren Hegge is the adult programs coordinator in the department of learning and engagement at the Denver Art Museum. Lauren has been with the DAM since 2013 and is committed to supporting Denver’s creative culture and enhancing the museum’s role as a place of community gathering. She has over 5 years of experience as a museum educator and adjunct studio arts instructor.

Rebecca Vaughan received her MFA from Carnegie Mellon University and BFA cum laude in Sculpture at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Ms. Vaughan has fifteen years of teaching at the college level and mentoring emerging artists, having served as the former Chair of Fine Arts and Head of Sculpture at the Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design. She also worked as the Program Director of the Art Students League of Denver and held a residency as a Resource Artist at Redline Denver from 2011-2013. Previously she worked as the project manager for Ann Hamilton’s 2008 Circles of O performance, and assisted in other projects in Dialog: City, a city-wide arts event for the Democratic National Convention in Denver. She served as an Artist-Teacher for the Vermont College of Fine Art and was a visiting instructor at Bowling Green State University, OH.

Joshua Field is a nationally and internationally exhibited artist and Assistant Professor of Foundations and Fine Arts at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design in Denver, CO. He holds a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD and an MFA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in Amherst, MA. His work has been featured in numerous publications including ArtSlant, DailyCandy, DesignYouTrust, and Saatchi Online’s 100 Curators, 100 Days and is held in both private and public collections. He has participated in residencies at the Contemporary Artists Center and the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA).

Julie Puma achieved a Masters of Art in Art Therapy at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her passion for painting was kindled as she practiced art therapy while experiencing its healing powers for herself and deepening her own creative talent. She earned a second Master’s degree in Fine Art in Visual Art with the Vermont College of Fine Art. Currently, Julie is a full-time Faculty Member in Foundations at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in Denver. Julie’s work has been exhibited nationally and locally in several solo and collaborative shows since 1997. Prized by collectors, her drawings and paintings are personal and powerful, resonant and relevant contemporary realism.

Rick Dailey is a sculptor, photographer, and video artist in Denver, Colorado. He received his BA from Central Washington University, and his MFA from the University of South Florida in Tampa. Rick was formerly the Studio Coordinator of Photography and New Media at Anderson Ranch Arts Center from 2014-2016, and he is currently the Gallery Director at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design. His work is in private collections across North America.
