Join us in part 3 of a 3 part online faculty development series: Mindful Language for Inclusive Teaching.

The words we use while introducing a topic, demonstrating a skill, giving feedback, or conversing with a student (or colleague) have the power to either open hearts and minds or close them. Practice and play with phrases and words that are inclusive, welcoming, idea-sparking, and encouraging.

Sara Hiris, M.Ed. is an educator and consultant working at the nexus of wellness, education, creativity and personal growth. This past year her work included leading weekly meditation and mindfulness seminars, developing programs for Mindful Mentorship™, Mindful Artwork, and Mindful Pedagogy. She serves as affiliate faculty and a subject matter expert for RMCAD’s Art Education Department, writing articles about life’s many transitions. Sara is a certified yoga teacher and earned an M.Ed. with a focus in the Arts from Harvard University and a B.A. in Human Biology with a focus in Holistic Health from Stanford University. More at
