Technology Package Information
On-ground students are required to maintain a laptop that meets these degree specific minimum requirements. Online students may choose either a desktop or laptop, but a laptop is recommended.
Fashion Design
Fashion Design (On-Ground)
Equipment Students Receive as part of the Fashion Design Equipment Package Program Fee:
- Pfaff Hobbylock 2.5 Sewing Machine
- Bernette B37 Sewing Machine
- Professional Female Full-Scale Dress Form w/ Collapsible Shoulders
- Half-Scale Dress Form w/ Removable Arms

- Core: Intel i5 6400, AMD Ryzen 5 1500x or better
- Memory: 8 GB
- GPU/ Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX980 or NVIDIA Quadro P2200 or better
- Display: 1920×1080 minimum resolution
- Hard Drive: 500 GB minimum
Mac
- OS: macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later
- Core: Intel Core i5 4cores or greater
- Memory: 8 GB
- GPU/ Video Card: ** See Note column, base models after 2015 are supported but functionality is limited due to gpu type
- Display: 1280 x 800 minimum resolution
- Hard Drive: 500 GB minimum

- Accessories: 3-Button Mouse
Mac
- OS: macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later
- Core: Intel Core-i9 or Apple Silicon (M Series)
- Memory: 24GB or more
- GPU/ Video Card: ** See Note column, base models after 2015 are supported but functionality is limited due to gpu type
- Display: Retina 4k or Retina 5K
- Hard Drive: 500 GB (SSD or nvme or greater sized drive)
- Accessories: 3-Button Mouse

*Please be aware that new students transitioning into the program will follow the guidance here, and those students in prior terms may still require windows specific workstations for optitex needs.
** All Intel-chip macs do not have Nvidia graphics cards, so mac users cannot get the GPU-acceleration which supported by CLO software, but simulation and rendering are supported normally.
