Our campus is home to multiple galleries featuring dynamic and innovative work from visiting artists, RMCAD alumni, current students, and faculty. Open to the public, these galleries serve as a place to foster conversation around contemporary art and design for students and community members alike, while enhancing the learning experience of our students on campus.

RMCAD’s Gallery Department also hosts a variety of programs, from lectures and gallery talks, to critiques and workshops. See our current exhibitions here

Named in memory of RMCAD’s founder, the Philip J. Steele Gallery is the largest dedicated exhibition space on campus. When it isn’t used to showcase student and faculty work, the Steele Gallery is home to a variety of nationally renowned visiting artists, designers, and influencers throughout the school year. The mission of the Philip J. Steele Gallery is to enhance RMCAD’s position as a place for current dialogues, using contemporary art as a vehicle for critical discourse.

The gallery presents exhibitions of challenging, educational, and historically significant art. As a publicly open space, the gallery’s exhibitions bridge the gap between the RMCAD community and the public. By providing direct connection to original artworks and focusing on relevant contemporary artists and their work, the exhibitions enliven the visual environment on campus and foster a culture of experimentation and change.

Don’t let the name fool you (and it’s actually pronounced roo-dee)—because this gallery is an incredibly warm, welcoming, and inviting space. Rude provides an intimate environment for small-scale shows and installations throughout the year and is among our most sought-after gallery spaces on campus.

Gallery Hours: Monday – Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

The first floor of the Texas building, RMCAD’s flagship structure and the most iconic space on campus, doubles as an exhibition space dedicated to our graduates. We’re proud of the artists and designers whose careers we’ve helped to influence and, ultimately, to launch, and we’re honored to show how far they have come.

Located on the second floor of the EPiC building, the Student Gallery is managed and curated by a dedicated, hands-on student committee. RMCAD students who are hand-selected to exhibit in this space throughout the year are not only afforded invaluable gallery experience, but also an excellent addition to their resumes.
