Shawn Loseke, MFA

Shawn Loseke grew up on a ranch in Wyoming. Moved to Northern Colorado in his late teen years and have mostly called it home ever since. He currently lives in a small agricultural town north of Denver. He has a AAS Commercial Photography, BFA Fine Art Photography, MFA Fine Art Photography and audited two complete executive MBA programs.

Loseke is a visual artist who uses photographic language to engage with personal and collective memory. He experiments with various methods and techniques to depict dreams, melancholic and nostalgic feelings. Seeking to consciously expand the boundaries of his observation and explore cognitive and conceptual values. He examines how we archive ourselves through images and spaces, shaping our sense of being. His artistic endeavors are an extension of his personal experiences and passions. Influenced by, among other things, the places he has lived and traveled, by nature, and by literature. As a scholar-practitioner, he employs a form of constructivist pedagogy.
Loseke is honored to be a part of the RMCAD community and appreciates the college’s collaboration between departments. He created a wheat paste wall based on an alternative darkroom process class. He is married with two kids. Loseke has been to all 50 of the United States of America and eight foreign countries, having lived in Italy for a time. He also enjoys restoring classic British Sports cars. He also considers himself an audiophile and has begun designing and building speakers as a hobby.
