ABOUT THE LECTURE

Sondra Perry’s work dives into the tools of moving image production to examine representation and what it means to make images today. For the third Collapsing Time Series lecture the artist will discuss four video installations including Lineage for a Multiple Monitor Workstation (2015), netherrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr 1.0.2 (2016), IT’S IN THE GAME ‘17 or Mirror Gag for Vitrine and Projection (2017), and Graft and Ash for a Three Monitor Workstation (2017) and the work’s use of the post production technique of chroma keying and its intersections with blackness, bodies, and flesh. Constructing vivid narratives with various timescales that incorporate multiple generations of a single family, historical content, and contemporary avatars, Perry’s work envisions future images of identity.
