President’s Update: Spring B 2023

Greetings RMCAD Community,

I hope your 2023 is off to a strong start! This year, we celebrate RMCAD’s twentieth year on our beautiful Lakewood campus. Additionally, this year marks 60 years of RMCAD having the honor to provide creatives near and far with an art and design education that has paved the way for their creative careers. To all the faculty, staff, alumni, and students who have helped build the rich mosaic of RMCAD, thank you for your continuous hard work, out-of-the-box thinking, and your dedication to the arts.

This January, we celebrated reaching a remarkable milestone as RMCAD exceeded 2000 students pursuing their educational journey both on campus and online. In addition to welcoming more creatives to our family, we have seen an amazing increase in students participating in the college’s new career services program and have seen more students celebrate their accomplishments at graduation than ever before. Student participation has been strong across the board, so a big thank you to all who completed our annual Student Satisfaction Survey! We are so thankful that satisfaction continues to stay strong. Because of your participation and feedback, we can continue to make meaningful changes to enhance RMCAD and our community. We are humbled by your gift of feedback!

As we look forward to this spring, we are excited to extend our welcome to all of the distinguished artists, educators, and scholars who will be visiting our campus. Next week, multidisciplinary designer, and font foundry creator, Tré Seals, will be joining us for RMCAD’s Visiting Artist, Scholar, and Designer Program, called Becoming Vocal. RMCAD will also be hosting the 2023 FATE conference from April 13 – 15, 2023, which will bring 400 art instructors from over 100 colleges to Denver. We also encourage you to attend our upcoming 2023 Graduation Ceremony happening on Friday, April 28, 2023, to recognize and honor our remarkable graduates and their hard work inside and outside of the classroom. The class of 2023 will join our community of more than 3,500 graduates from around the world as they continue to redefine the world of art and design.

We are so proud of the continuous dedication our community has towards our students and of the new initiatives, like the tuition freeze for continuing students, modality rate equality, and the expansion of summer course offerings, that will help provide the essential added tools for students to stay on track for graduation. As we have reflected on the past and envisioned the future of RMCAD, I invite you to do the same when thinking of yourself. Be proud of how far you have come, and dream large when you envision where you would like to go next.

Stay creative and warmest regards,

Brent Fitch
