RMCAD 60th Anniversary

RMCAD celebrates 60 years of helping build the next generation of artists and designers

(LAKEWOOD, CO) – In 1963, Philip J. Steele, illustrator and artist, sought to build a community of creatives when he first opened Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design, known then as Rocky Mountain School of Art. Sixty years later with 11 diverse program paths, including interior design, game art and music production; a historic campus; online learning; and technology advanced facilities, it’s safe to say Steele’s vision has flourished beyond his wildest dreams.

Since the beginning, RMCAD has dedicated itself to help pave the path for students to pursue creative careers, which includes meeting industry professionals through artist talks and events, networking with alumni, and providing the opportunity to exhibit work at shows and galleries. Not to mention, the college is committed to educators not only being professors, but also working artists, which allows students to learn right from the source.

RMCAD alumni have worked for some of the most recognizable and cutting-edge companies in the artistic industry, including Pixar, Dreamworks, Adobe, and Netflix.

“It’s truly an honor to be a part of this remarkable institution and to celebrate 60 fantastic years as a RMCAD family and 20 years on our Lakewood campus,” shares Brent Fitch, RMCAD President. “Over the last few years, I have truly witnessed the dedication, creativity and heart our students have for their craft, and the commitment our educators and staff have for our students.”
