A successful historic renovation requires a sophisticated balance between the heavy weight of the past and the technical demands of the present. Whether it’s the renovation of an old home or a massive heritage building restoration, the goal is to enhance the building’s utility and safety without erasing the “soul” that makes it worth saving.
Why Historic Renovations Require a Different Playbook
Standard construction often prioritizes efficiency, speed, and the replacement of components. In contrast, restoration architecture operates on a philosophy of stewardship. You aren’t just managing a job site; you are managing a legacy.
Preserving Character While Meeting Modern Expectations
The modern occupant—whether a resident or a commercial tenant—expects a high level of comfort. This includes climate control, high-speed connectivity, and reliable safety systems.
