Alicia McKim has worked as a studio artist, with an emphasis in the book arts, for over 25 years. She incorporates traditional printmaking processes with alternative techniques to facilitate her explorations of visual language. Her work disintegrates the boundaries between art and mass culture, while revealing underlying assumptions about social conventions. McKim exhibits her artists’ books internationally. Her work is in numerous private and public collections, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Getty Research Institute, the Walker Art Center and the Harvard Printing and Graphics Collection. In addition to teaching at RMCAD, McKim also teaches workshops throughout the western United States. In recent years, she has worked in Malawi Africa where she teaches and coordinates an effort to promote literacy through the Book Arts. Check out her website for more information.
